Indeed, a new Compact 21 DZ will soon be installed in the research laboratories of Foton Institute. As renowned experts in the field of semiconductor materials epitaxy for photonic devices, Foton Institute intends to strengthen its research capabilities on emerging semiconductor materials, thanks to this new system. Foton Institute is one of the laboratories behind the European COST OPERA network dedicated to epitaxy.
The acquisition of this RIBER machine was carried out within the framework of the NANOFUTUR project. Financed by the French National Research Agency / CNRS – Centre national de la recherche scientifique and Renatech+ French network, this project aims to structure the French academic nanotechnology community for the next ten years, by providing it with state-of-the-art equipment that will enable to continue to evolve at the highest world level.
The system will be configured with solid sources and hydride gas sources for the growth of ternary and quaternary III-V compound materials, in particular phosphides. The acquisition of the equipment was funded by the Programme d’Investissements d’Avenir (PIA) managed by the Agence Nationale de la Recherche (ANR). The equipment will be installed on the nanoRennes technology platform, on the site of the Foton Institute, at INSA Rennes.
The Foton Institute chose the Riber solution, which is compatible with existing equipment and integrates gas sources that are essential for obtaining abrupt transients for the development of III-V components on silicon by MBE for photonics and energy.
This new order reaffirms Riber’s position as the world leader in gas source MBE equipment for III-V materials. Riber’s Compact 21 range of research machines is the most versatile and comprehensive on the market for III-V, II-VI, nitride and oxide materials.
